Although serial connection devices are a thing of the past, there are still a large number of devices that do not support a standard USB connection and require a serial port connection. Unfortunately, serial devices don't connect as easily as USB devices, and so some level of troubleshooting is often required to get them working. This handy little channel tester can prove invaluable for determining if a serial link is properly paired and whether a connection exists. I have used several devices of this type over the years and this particular 9 pin device comes in very handy. The only downside is that the LEDs aren't as bright as we'd like. If you are in a brightly lit room or outdoors, it may be difficult to see the display. Overall, I give this tester a thumbs up.
