The reason the boots are sticking out of the side pocket is because you can't zip up when the boot is in. The bag is only about 3 inches wide. You can slide them in, but lightweight zippers (more on that in a moment) won't hold up. I would call a bag made of medium-strength material. Definitely NOT heavy duty. Lightning is just fine.
