Easy to install if you know how to solder.

You may need a soldering iron to install this if you have an older version but the fan works like new again! It's worth it considering the cost of a new fan. The old fan motor lasted at least 15 years, we heated with wood all winter and when the fan finally broke down I didn't understand how much it was affecting the circulation of the warm air! I wish they made one that would work on a wall heater. Great that it uses no electricity!

Pros
  • Absolute Legend
Cons
  • Disappearing

Just works if you have one of the three models I'm sure.

I'm not a fan of products that try to do everything for all products. this is close I had to solder a new connector from the new motor. This left solder in the holes where the wires went. I had to remove that solder, unsolder the old wire from the old motor where the clogged contacts had to be stretched. such a pain It should have taken 5 minutes but it took me almost an hour to find something to clean excess solder from clogged pins.

  • Decent performance
Cons
  • Null

Only lasted 2 seasons

Just replaced this motor for the second time. The original motor and the last one I installed only lasted 2 years each, I can only hope the one I installed today performs better. They say it's a beauty, but I think it's an inherent problem with the three-blade model. that the blade may be too heavy for the engine mounts. Given the initial cost of the fan at $100 plus two additional motors at $15, one wonders if there is any savings over a plug-in fan. food for thought.

Pros
  • Best in its niche
Cons
  • Poor instructions

My oven fan has been restored.

If you've got your hands and a thin-tipped soldering iron, installation is easy. The funny thing is that I tried to start the engine before I stuck it in the fan and couldn't start it. But after assembling everything and putting it in the oven, it works fine. I would suggest putting a tiny drop of oil in the front bearing from time to time to extend life. It was a bearing that was worn on the original engine. (This fan doesn't move much air, but its speed is a pretty good indicator of whether…

Easy installation and now works better than the original.

I am very glad that I was able to replace the fan motor instead of buying a brand new fan. The old engine just wouldn't start on its own, and if I wanted the fan to work I had to start it manually. I love how easy it is to hook up the new drive motor and the instructions are great. The new engine even comes with an Allen key required to remove and install the Ecofan replacement. The best part was when I installed the fan on the stove, lit the fire and saw the fan start by itself. Thank you…

Soldering may be required depending on the age of your Ecofan

I used this motor kit to repair an old model fan. Old enough to not have a model number, just a serial number. My fan, which I bought as a gift for my parents, didn't have terminal blocks for wires, so I had to solder in replacements. The motors (old and new) had a red dot next to one of the connectors, which presumably indicates polarity, so I made sure to connect the wires in the same orientation. The almost wordless guidebook that came with the kit was sufficient. The price of the kit is…

Easy to install and works great.

I am very happy with the easy installation and glad I only had to buy this one part instead of buying a whole new fan. Last year I noticed my 6 year old fan would start to slow down and then stop working altogether, even though it was running on a perfectly hot wood stove. I was willing to spend money on a new fan, but then I stumbled across something that said motors die over time and you can just replace the motor. Who knew?! I made sure it was the correct motor and when the package arrived…
