If you've got your hands and a thin-tipped soldering iron, installation is easy. The funny thing is that I tried to start the engine before I stuck it in the fan and couldn't start it. But after assembling everything and putting it in the oven, it works fine. I would suggest putting a tiny drop of oil in the front bearing from time to time to extend life. It was a bearing that was worn on the original engine. (This fan doesn't move much air, but its speed is a pretty good indicator of whether the stove needs more fuel ;-)
