I've used them as "rubber soles" on garage shelves to give them some lift. This way I was able to avoid getting water on the racks when cleaning the garage floor. The rims on the cups help (to a degree) to keep water off the rack legs, preventing early rusting. This definitely works for me.

When the bed is moved, the hubcaps slide out and certainly do not protect the floor. The material just isn't stiff enough to keep the bed from rolling. However, once you get under the bed and put all the casters back in place, they work fine unless something happens to move the bed.
