It was terrible. It was supposed to be a good replacement, but it turned out to be defective. The hole around the hole was not sealed. I could see through both sides. It shouldn't be like that. Didn't notice of course until we took it back off the drainpipe to see why it was leaking. Not a quality product. Very disappointed. Since it was now filthy from the sewage, we didn't come back. Pooh.

Installation is quite easy if you have space for nuts and bolts. Unfortunately, mine was difficult because there was not enough space. I did, however, and was relieved when I filled the black tank with water and there were no more leaks. There was a lot of gritty material in and behind the old valve, so I flushed that dirt out before installing the new valve. I used petroleum jelly on the gaskets and put the gaskets on the fittings first. The old valve was from Valterra and this Camco fitted…

The cable mechanism on my RV's original black water valve failed so I had to replace the latch and cable. This kit included everything needed to remove the old valve and cable and replace with new parts. It even included new bolts and nuts to attach to existing flanges. There were also instructions on how to cut the cable to length and information on the minimum bending radius. FYI, the factory didn't follow the bend radius specifications and that was the cause of the error.

This valve was a piece of junk, it looked very good when it arrived. When I went to install it the bolts barely went through, then the little cylinder that holds the cable to the valve wasn't drilled through. I had to search for the right size drill bit to fix it. I then tried the valve before inserting the handle portion into the holder, when I pulled on it the outer sleeve ripped out of the crimp rendering the entire valve unusable and wasting my time. Pure junk again, don't do this brand.

Broke after about 60 uses. Installation was pretty easy after removing the bottom covers. It took two people and some strength to install this between the existing sewer pipe and the tank. Much easier to pull than the OEM initially. Then, a few months later, the cable just snapped in my hand. I didn't think I would have to repeat this so quickly. I am totally disappointed in the durability of this cable. I strongly recommend not buying this one.

This is for the valve + 72 inch cord: Installation was tedious due to the position of the valve but all went well. Everything seemed fine. no leaks. But the first time I tried to empty the tank, the handle immediately detached from the cable. I had to crawl under the camper, remove the floor protection and open the valve with my hand! Bought to replace the plastic handle. When it arrived one of the seals was folded in half in the packaging. I had to install it twice as the folded gasket didn't work and ended up leaking. The second installation was successful. When we got to our first destination, the metal handle I was so proud of flew away in the wind, gone forever, maybe stuck in the grille of the next car. My Tab Teardrop's black water valve handle was broken on one side. I decided to replace it before the other side of the arm broke off. I'm glad it has a metal handle. I recommend replacing this valve before you run into problems. Or at least have a spare on board, just in case. And if you don't need to change it, wait until you're at a campsite that has a sewer hookup. This way you can drain and even rinse out the tank before doing that dirty work. Bought on 02/17, now 06/28. I've been camping maybe 3-4 times which means I opened and closed the tank valve maybe 10 times. The cable gland has moved away from the fitting closest to the handle.
