This is the original breather cap you want!

Unlike a lot of cheap replacement parts that attach to springs that I've seen on many RV accessory websites, these caps are the original where the cap itself rests on 4 posts so you only have can access it vent. , while believing that it will not be blown away by the wind and not pushed by a lost branch! We were replacing our 12 year old campervan roof and while the vent covers we removed were still in, at this price we could easily replace them all knowing we have ten years before they may…

Easy replacement work, save money by doing it yourself!

I really only needed the lid but I'm glad I bought it as a whole and not a lid with a metal clip to attach it. When I removed the old caps the plastic base just broke so I replaced them entirely. Make sure you have some sealant on hand for this job to keep water out after replacement. It is quick and easy to replace, simply remove the bolts, remove the old sealant, apply new sealant to the ring and screw back on. Everything is better now, and it only costs $10 and about 30 minutes to do both…

Pros
  • Sturdy construction

  • Small parts

My old air vents on my 2004 Chevy Coachmen Class C were pretty worn and one of the spacers broke on one of the older domed models so I replaced both. The biggest challenge is removing the old lap seal to remove these things without damaging the main rubber roof. Careful work with a spatula was required. To be on the safe side, I applied Dicor Seal Tite around the pipe before replacing the cap and resealing with Dicor Self-Leveling Lap Sealant. It's not difficult, just takes a little time and…

You can split it into two parts for easier installation!

Many reviews say this is a molded piece, not two pieces fitted together. However, this is true out of the box. There are four "stands" plus a cutout, obviously for a screw/mounting hole. Two of the four posts are permanently attached to the lid, and two of those have double plastic inserts (think tongue-in-groove if you want). The two protrusions furthest from the recess are permanent. So if you want to separate the cap from the base you will need a small cutting wheel (like a dremel) to cut…

  • Handy piece

  • So far so good
