Works with MSR Camel Hydration Kit

I have just purchased the MSR 6L Dromedary Water Bag and MSR Hydration Kit. I don't like through bite valves so I bought this to replace it. I had to cut the original MSR off the tube, but after doing that I was able to easily put this in its place. Has been working ever since

  • Certified
Cons
  • Crumpled Packaging

I buy them to replace all my water.

I buy these to replace all my water boxes because I use an in line filter and they allow me to use my water box as a hands free gravity filter at camp. With a teething tube, I would have to squeeze the nozzle when filling or washing dishes. I gave it four stars because after a few seasons they start to stick and are hard to turn. Still works but needs to be replaced.

Pros
  • Easy install
Cons
  • Hard to say

Works for sports

Bought because my bite head was dripping during exercise. It fits snugly in the camel bread tube and the bite attachment fits snugly on top. The latch/open mechanism isn't very easy to slide back and forth, but it does the job - no leaks. Unfortunately on a two day hike my bite nozzle came loose and got lost so I had to drink straight out of the water seal nozzle. The hard plastic definitely doesn't feel comfortable on the lips, but again, it got me hooked.

Pros
  • One year trial
Cons
  • Low repairability

Perfect replacement part

I lost the yellow CamelBak locking switch that I use for skiing. Unfortunately, you don't just get the switch, so I swapped out the entire HydroLock. I ordered this part and was amazed at how easy it was to replace. It fits easily in my pipe. The replacement was easy and the new part still looks solid. This part may not be complicated or unusual, but it does! All I can say is that when turning the lock, be careful not to accidentally pull it straight out (parallel to the direction of the pipe).

Pros
  • This is amazing
Cons
  • Useless features

Different from the original but should help.

Somehow my lock and valve got caught between trail, car and house. So I didn't find it. It's not the same as what was in my backpack 6 years ago but looks like it will work. The yellow valve key on these may not seem as secure as the original, but it's also oriented differently, so I tried turning it the wrong way first. Thankfully I didn't break it on the learning curve so hopefully it will be just as good. Anyway, I'm glad all these spare parts don't cost a penny, they seem very cheap! I wasโ€ฆ

Love the design, not the execution

We wear our Camelbak backpacks when we ride our bikes and the Ergo closure is great - it fits easier into the helmet than a straight flap and the on/off button does the job keeps us from sitting on the open valve and pouring the liquid on ourselves and on our friends at the restaurant (yes it happened). The problem is that the rotating part of the valve is only held in place by friction. Catch a closed flap on any part of your clothing and it will easily come loose and get lost. It happened toโ€ฆ

THE ANSWER to prevent dangerous leaks!

Not sure if new camelbak cameras currently come with this lock as standard but they should. If, like me, you have older Camelbaks, you've probably had a very disturbing and dangerous experience where water has leaked from your bladder through your pressure valve, leaving you waterless in the midst of extreme environments where water is paramount. This barrier effectively "locks" the flow so there is no leakage at all, allowing you to have the constant comfort of a water source on your lipsโ€ฆ

Pros
  • Delivery was very quick
Cons
  • Sparse instructions

Works well with lock but drips a bit without.

I first bought a large 100 oz Camelbak Hydration Pack. reservoir and this lock bite valve design. On a recent kayak trip, my son pulled my bin out of the kayak and ripped off the yellow bracket. We couldn't find him. Little did I know it just slipped right out of the end of the valve. I've always liked the convenient design of this valve, but it WILL leak a little if not blocked. This was never a problem until my wife broke both her wrists and it seemed like the perfect hydration system for her

Pros
  • Easy to use
Cons
  • Some difficulties
