CAMO Edge Deck Screws secure boards to the joist through their edge, leaving a fastener-free surface. Edge Deck Screws patented rake tip augers material out which reduces splitting and cracking. ProTech Coated Edge Deck Screws are ideal for treated, composite, capped composite, and PVC decking. 2-3⁄8 in. (60mm) Edge Deck Screws are recommended for boards 1 in. (25.4mm) to 1-1⁄2 in. This screw is designed for use with a camouflage deck attachment. This system was used to install our deck at ground level in 2012 and I had to reinforce areas at the ends of the planks where the installers weren't using enough fasteners. Two observations: 1. The original screws held the boards in place and none of them worked. There is one spot where the finished 6x6 floor has started to crumble in ways that we have not been able to explain, and of course the screws have nowhere to "bite”. 2…

They worked perfectly for my deck design. I use 2x6x6 for both the structure of the deck and the actual deck surface instead of just using 2x6 for the bottom and thin cedar for the top of the deck. (I don't use these stealth screws for my deck structure element, neither should you - just to clarify. You should use snap bolts and deck screws are applicable.) Camouflage screws take my deck work to the next level.

I love these camouflaged screws. Now I use them for anything where I want to be able to detach the board later and also want to have a hidden fastener. They work great on decking and have good holding power. Recently, while working on the deck, granite slab installers dropped a heavy slab onto a ladder I had just installed. He bent the 2x6 front tread but didn't damage it. I would probably replace it with nails, otherwise it would at least look worse than the original. With the camouflage…
