Camp Chef DFT12 12 Thermometer Review

Supplied with candy thermometer card included. I thought it was a regular meat thermometer. Contacted the camp cook, they said it was for meat, sweets, bread etc. Not sure if it can be as versatile as they say.

I also ordered a meat thermometer; Mine arrived with a card that said "fryer thermometer". We're not sure what its intended use covers or if it's ideal for checking the internal temperature of meat. The description on amazon.com says nothing about the roast so I'm a little confused.

The thermometer I received is probably defective. It can be assumed that he misread that my cold tap water comes out at over 90 degrees in winter. The temperature always shows about 30-60 degrees hotter than it should. I tested this on a smaller thermometer that I know works, along with common sense I've tried recalibrating a few methods with little or no improvement. This can usually be a great thermometer, but as I said, the one I received (and returned) didn't work.

This is an amazing thermometer so I gave it the 5 stars it deserves. Price versus quality, you just can't beat it. Home brewer warning: This thermometer exceeds 500 degrees. This seems great until you realize it causes numbers/strings to get smaller. For us home brewers, the range of 150-170 degrees is most important, and for this thermometer, that range is about 2 cm.
