No use for Canon RP camera

Maybe because the Canon RP doesn't have permission to take advantage? In any case, in combination with a Canon 600 RF f11 lens, this extender was not good. Images with the extender after cropping were no better than without. I'm giving 3 stars instead of 1 because the problem may be in the camera, but Canon should report it.

  • Almost never

A useful addition to your Canon mirrorless camera bag

Easy to use, produces sharp images, does not affect autofocus performance. The main limitation, not really related to RF1.4x, is that it's compatible with multiple lenses (at the moment) and they're pretty slow. So if you find yourself in low-light situations, losing an extra lens can really increase the noise. levels. But in good conditions this lens is worth its weight in gold. And that's what you're paying for, the price seems a bit overpriced but if you need it that's the entry-level price.

It is best used with RF prime lenses, not RF zooms (please read my review)

The RF 1.4x extender is a great product in every way, except that it's quite expensive. I've attached it to a Canon RF 100-500mm lens and everything works fine, so I can't complain about its performance, including IQ, focus, etc. Note that when either of the two extenders (1, 4x and 2x ) is used With the RF 100-500mm or similar zoom lens, the lens can only be enlarged from 300mm to 500mm. If you then want to zoom back, retract the lens to eg 100mm, this is not possible as the lens cannot be…

Expensive but worth every penny

Everyone knows what a 1.4x extension is for, so I won't bore you with that. The quality of this extension is fantastic. Everything is perfect, the glass is great, no flaws, everything is smooth as silk. You can even describe it until you pick it up and immediately understand that it will be worth every penny spent. Optically I see no difference with my RF800 lens. I know there's some pixel-level testing that shows it loses some of its sharpness, but you never see that in the real world. The…

Decent extender for RF lenses

I have used this extender on my R5 with 100-500mm and 800mm lenses and it works very well. This adds an aperture stop, but it's a small price to pay for the extra range as I'm shooting wildlife and it can be difficult to get close. I did notice that autofocus (especially eye detection) can be a bit slower when using the extender than just using the native lens, but it wasn't significant enough to put me off the idea of wearing it for extra coverage use . Luckily, the R5 can handle high ISOs…

Big price for little use but hey great picture VALUE 1000 words

Call me greedy but my RF 100-500 is a bit short sometimes. Dropped frames because I'm a bit short even with cropping. While I love my R5, the standard lens options are still in their infancy. So what should I do? The only option is to either suffer, buy a non-native lens and adapter, or live with 1.4x or 2.0x RF extenders. I decided to take the last option. Before proceeding, you should know that RF extenders only work with a few RF lenses: RF 600, 800, and 100-500. They do not currently (July…
