I have used this extender on my R5 with 100-500mm and 800mm lenses and it works very well. This adds an aperture stop, but it's a small price to pay for the extra range as I'm shooting wildlife and it can be difficult to get close. I did notice that autofocus (especially eye detection) can be a bit slower when using the extender than just using the native lens, but it wasn't significant enough to put me off the idea of wearing it for extra coverage use . Luckily, the R5 can handle high ISOs well enough that losing the aperture didn't stop me from taking decent photos. In fact, the photos are only limited by my own lack of experience. This is a very useful addition to get a little more out of my wildfield lenses. I have attached two photos taken with the R5+ Extender with my 100-500mm telephoto lens giving me 700mm for these shots. Although I'm not a big photographer, they give you an idea of what's possible. A note: to attach an extender, your compatible lens must be fully extended. For example, when I used the 1.4x extension with a Canon RF 100-500mm lens, the lens was fully extended to 500mm before I installed the extension. You cannot attach the extender until the lens is fully extended. Now I can zoom the lens down to around 450mm, but with the extension installed you are basically committed to using the lens at full range, which in my case was the full 500mm, giving me a dual component 700mm are. If it makes sense
