Nice! â Pencils

Nice pencils! They feel very creamy. By combining them, you can get many different tones and new colors.

worth every penny - art supplies

is worth every penny. I save/sell/beg/borrow a full set which is outrageously cheap because it's worth it, no other watercolor pencil compares, Faber Castell Albrecht Dürer is about half as good and Derwent Inktense is about 75% better, with the exception of Derwent incense. does not dissolve completely.

Pros
  • ideal for outdoor activities

The best watercolor pencil

NO watercolor pencils are better (or worse) than these. They are expensive but worth every penny. So buttery soft and beautiful. Buy every set. I don't paint with watercolor pencils, but I've attached a photo of my first attempt using Caran d'ache pencils (although I don't know which colors, I have several sets). They are so wonderful to use!

Love it! Worth the money

I'm a big fan of Caran D-ache pencils. They are creamy, densely pigmented and lightfast. I wish they were more affordable but in this case you get what you pay for. They are particularly good for travel as I could quickly make some sketches and use them both as pencils and almost like watercolor by running a wet brush over the tips of the pencils.

Pros
  • Solid construction
Cons
  • Almost ok

Came as described. I love these pens. 20 years ago I bought a set of watercolor pencils and found them dull, waxy and unnecessary. Since then I've ignored that environment as one of those products that tries to be two things at once and ends up being unable to do both. BUT. From the moment I put these babies on paper, I've changed. I made an absolutely wonderful ugly mess on my first round because the colors were so vibrant and laid so well on the brush. These pens are easy to abuse, they are a

Expensive and not as unique as the Luminance line

These pencils are not made from "bad" materials. They dissolve completely in water and the colors are bright. I love watercolors and am a huge pigment snob so I liked them. I only gave them three stars for two specific reasons. (1) Performance: After doing color swatches and a few sketches, I didn't find the Caran d'Ache to be brighter or perform noticeably different than its competitor. I already have a good set of Faber Castell Albrecht Dürer watercolor pencils. Since Faber is half the price,

Cover photo is misleading

When I first heard about these pens I thought they were the best watercolor pencils, period. I've wanted to try them since I first heard about them. All I can say is thank goodness I bought the smallest set because I really don't think they live up to the hype and aren't worth the price they are being sold for. Although the marketers are one-on-one, thank them for calling them "museum watercolors" - this combined with the misleading photography really got me there for a while before trying them

Pros
  • Consistent test results
Cons
  • Could have chosen a newer model
