As a remanufactured Original Equipment part, this unit guarantees a perfect vehicle fit. All critical components (cam packs, spool valves, etc.) are triple-tested to ensure product reliability; Units are supplied with 100% tested and calibrated pressure relief valves. All units are built with 100% new O-rings and premium-grade HNBR seals to prevent leaks; HNBR does not break down at high temperatures like conventional seal material. Fine mesh screen and magnet only

Fine mesh screen and magnet only. Be sure to install it on the low-pressure line. The magnet attracts pieces of iron and the screen removes other particles. I don't expect any problems.

I know it was cheap but I passed Smog.

No problem. I just plugged it in and everything worked. It had all the OEM parts/cuts/lengths/connectors. work is done. The original lasted 20 years. I doubt I'll live another 20 years at this price. :-) But I haven't paid for 20 years.

It's no better in spare parts

It's just a simple screen and a small magnet. I see no reason for an installation. If you want to make your mechanic laugh, go up to him with this thing in your hands and ask him to put it on. I bought this because I couldn't find a larger filter in the 5/8" hose. I decided not to mess up my return hose by cutting it in half to install this joke.

Ease of installation. Cheap insurance for power steering service.

Replaced the Power Rack on my Mercury Cougar 95 with a Cardone unit. Recommended built-in filter. Replaced the low pressure return hose, put in the filter. This requires you to assemble the filter and install the included O-ring. The filter was easy to understand in disassembled form. As a side note, if you're using it for Thunderbird or Cougar, a 3/8" filter is required, not a 5/8" filter.

Not sure how this affects the power steering system

I needed to replace the return hose on my truck so I had the Aeroquip hose lying around but it was about 1 inch shorter. Rather than buying a more expensive hose I saw them in line filters and figured I could also use them to extend the hose as far as I needed so it basically did double duty for me.
