Excellent sandpad for reef aquariums

Excellent sandpad for reef aquariums. The granules are small enough to give the impression of a sandy bottom on the seabed, but large enough that the granules stay in place and are not blown away by the wind. Very happy with this choice.

Perfect dry sand is required for the Zeovit system!

This is the sand you need if you want to start the Zeovit system properly. It is dry sand, as opposed to the more common live sand. The Zeovit system requires dry sand so that the Zeovit bacteria can colonize the sand.

bright and natural look.

This is a good natural aregonite/coral/shell substrate. It's better than sand but not what I would call gravel. Rinse it very well before placing it in an established aquarium or a fair amount of sludge will cloud the water for a while. It adds a beautiful natural white color to the base of my reef aquarium.

Beautiful substrate

Great for cichlid aquariums. Small enough to look like sand but it's still crushed coral. My only problem is that I bought 2 bags at different times. And the grain size was not the same. Still very happy with it. The 2 tanks I currently have look cleaner than any of my other 4 tanks with the same or larger charge.

Pros
  • Great for a small home
Cons
  • Out of style

I swear the reviews on this product are misleading. I was looking for fine aragonite sand, this is not it. I think I want aragonite granulated sugar. It's only slightly smaller and slightly more uniform than your regular aragonite. It seems more expensive and definitely more junk and dust. I can take their regular CaribSea Aragonite and put it straight into the aquarium without lifting. Yes, it will be cloudy and may take several weeks to fully clear. This "special variety" is particularly…
