Description of πŸ”§ Carter M4009 Performance Mechanical Fuel Pump

Built to meet or exceed OEM fit and reliability and 100% factory tested and approved. Ideal for vehicles with low pump pressure between 4 to 6 PSI. Less susceptible to contaminates because its located outside the fuel tank. In-Line pumps are driven by the camshaft, which effectively transfers fuel from the tank to the carburetor.

Wouldn't recommend

It was junk when I got it. Pump not working. Wouldn't recommend it. I threw it in the garage and bought it in Napa. The Napa pump is similar but works.

Pros
  • Ideal for cars with low pump pressures of 4 to 6psi
Cons
  • Reliability

It works :) in replacement parts

I had a different brand fuel pump and it produced 9 pounds of pressure instead of the 5 pounds that sometimes overfilled the carburetor. Everything seems to be fine with this pump.

Pros
  • Engineered to meet or exceed OEM compliance and reliability, and 100% factory tested and approved.
Cons
  • Not sure

Fuel pump failed after about 2 hours of operation

Installed on my truck which we only use for commuting around the property and to the hardware store. I chose Carter because it's a good name. The pump failed on Saturday afternoon, leaving me stranded for the day until I was able to purchase another pump from my local auto parts store and take it home.

Pros
  • Less prone to contamination as it is outside the fuel tank
Cons
  • Crumpled packaging
