Description of πŸ”§ Carter M6626 Mechanical Fuel Pump: Optimal Performance for Fuel Delivery

Built to meet or exceed OEM fit and reliability and 100% factory tested and approved. Ideal for vehicles with low pump pressure between 4 to 6 PSI. Absolute junk, best in fuel pumps and accessories

The one I got had the return fitting loose and falling out and then leaking simply return fuel. In the end I didn't even use it. waste of money.

Pros
  • Less prone to fouling as it's on the outside of the fuel tank
Cons
  • Not as thick as other picks

No more fuel pressure problems

Great mechanical pump that puts out 6 to 7psi. Sometimes it outperforms carbs, so I use a pressure regulator and set it at 4-5 psi. The benefit of this pump is that it has a built in return line to the tank, just start the return line and you're good to go. Revain is by far the best place to buy this pump, always in stock and at the best price.

Pros
  • Ideal for cars with low pump pressures of 4 to 6psi
Cons
  • Mostly good but...

Great replacement for the stock

I bought this pump based on numerous recommendations on an online forum for my 1983 carbureted Trans Am. It snapped right in, appears to be a standard replacement for Chevy carbureted engines, and works great. For the price it can't get any better, possibly the cheapest replacement part on a car for less than $20. Nothing extra was required other than hand tools. I can't test an increase in performance and doubt there's any margin. It's too early to judge reliability, but again, my purchase was

Pros
  • In-line pumps are driven by a camshaft which efficiently pumps fuel from the tank to the carburetor
Cons
  • Everything is fine
