Not worth the money

The timer was used about 4 times a day to make tea or as a cooking timer. It was only working sporadically a few weeks ago and today it stopped working completely. The old one it replaced (a different brand) lasted about 15 years before finally giving up. This only lasted three months. Poor quality and durability even at such a low price.

Pros
  • Rings for 3 seconds
Cons
  • I'm worried

Timer overview for thermometers and timers

There are problems with timers, eg the timer stops ticking before it reaches the bell, or the bell doesn't ring. I was concerned about this because I had read about it. However, this timer worked great for me. Has stopped ticking twice. However, this only happened after about forty uses. It has worked great for the last two weeks. I love the design of the timer and I think it's a great product.

Pros
  • Just one knob to turn, making it easy to use
Cons
  • Almost never

Made in China. It has no foreign smell. Reliable. The ease of moving the dial is an added nice feature, some aren't as tight or too tight for those who find it difficult. The ringtone sounds like an old phone but muffled. Good bell sound. You have to be in the same room or next room to really hear it unless the house is quiet. We are happy with our purchase.

Pros
  • Mechanical elevator timer counts down from minutes to 1 hour
Cons
  • Good but not great

just right for me, a bit noisy

I haven't done many controlled tests but when I got it I checked it electronically for several time periods (10", 20, 45.) and It was impressively accurate, especially since a mechanical timer is difficult to set accurately. I like mechanical timers because they don't take time to set, and somehow a mechanical bell lets other sounds through better than the beep of an electronic timer. When counting, it is louder downstairs than other timers I've had I don't want him sitting right next to me.

Pros
  • Beveled front panel is easy to read on the tabletop; the cutout allows it to be hung on the wall
Cons
  • It makes me angry

shish. Waste of money and time

This timer broke after only 3 weeks of use in a typical family kitchen. It has not been reset. Nothing fell on him. It was not boiled or fried. But after just three weeks, the (damn cheap) plastic dial broke, preventing us from setting the timer. For three weeks it worked, it worked well. But three weeks? I remember my mother and grandmother had the same timers for years. However, these days, and especially most junk that comes from China and/or Mexico, it's not worth the shipping cost, let…

Pros
  • 5 year guarantee
Cons
  • Expensive insurance
