Finder stopped working after 2 weeks!

The telescope itself triggers well but I would give it a 2 out of 5 tripod for being very easy to move even in light winds and a mount I don't know what metal it's made of, but the helicopter digs a hole when I use it. As a result, I have to raise the telescope every time I change the elevation on the telescope. Totally disappointed with this purchase, I wouldn't recommend it to anyone, even beginners, as something breaks after a very short time.

Pros
  • Excellent overall performance
Cons
  • Some minor issues

The product works but there are many defects upon receipt

The product was received and assembled according to the instructions. The first thing I noticed was that my tripod legs wouldn't snap onto the triangular plate. The legs also don't seem to be equally spaced in the radial direction, so my tripod isn't level. Terrible tripod/telescopic tripod. Since then I've logged into the Celestron website and submitted a support ticket - no replies yet (it's been several business days). The next thing I noticed was that the telescope was not collimated upon…

Excellent buy for my money

pretty nice. It's a little tricky to get it just right for what you're focusing on, but once you do it looks great. I would recommend getting a moon filter and a light pollution filter from Celestron. The moon filter offers much more detail on a bright moon and eliminates a significant amount of light. The light pollution filter also cuts out a lot of city light if you live on the outskirts of a city, allowing you to potentially see more stars and even some nebulae with the right lens. As for…

It's cheap, very cheap. You don't get what you pay for.

I have had the scope for 9 months. I have that for you. The bullet is cheap. Everything about it is cheap. The focuser is very sloppy and loose, no collamation possible at all, so good luck focusing on the moon or jupiter cleanly. It's fuzzy blurry all the time. The rubber rings on the focus knob keep slipping. The magician is nonsense. And there's no central point on the primary, so best guess what you're going to get when you colmate. My red dot scope was broken upon arrival so I removed a…

I LOVE THIS TELESCOPE: TIPS THAT MAY HELP YOU

I didn't like the telescope at first. I also didn't like the EQ mount because it was difficult to find objects. But after studying all the intricacies of this telescope for several months, I really unleashed the potential of this MASCHINE. It was of course HORRIBLE COLLIMATED out of the box. A beginner would not know. Every time I looked at Jupiter it was so blurry with almost no glitter underneath that it looked like another Jupiter. Saturn's rings were so bright that the rings didn't look…

Pros
  • An absolute legend
Cons
  • No paint required

Some issues are easy to fix for a few bucks, so that's decent.

You should know right away that the screws that hold the mirror mount (a plastic ring that screws into the tube that the mirror is attached to) put pressure on the mirror and compress the adjustment springs. This means that the inch correction you have to work with when collimating is no more than 1/8 inch. Carefully remove this part and either replace the bolts with smaller ones with the same threads, shorten them if you dare, or do what I did and install lock washers on each bolt to eat up…

It's hard to find a feature that actually works.

To say I was disappointed with this telescope is saying nothing. Never in my life have I been so sad and disappointed with a relatively expensive product. I also wish my poor wife and I could get back the whole month we wasted fighting this thing. Right now I just feel empty inside. All my irritation and sadness is gone. I don't think I've ever felt so bad about buying something in my life. I feel like I spent a lot of money on a 'garage decoration'. I did a really good job for a whole month…
