Works as expected for daytime use.

I have this for my 80mm refractor to use as binoculars during the day. For this application, the diagonal works fine. The diagonal is definitely not premium, but sufficient for my purposes.

Pros
  • Simple setup
Cons
  • Some flaws

I can't focus with my hydroscope.

I have a 60mm compact viewfinder and an Astromania 60mm hydoscope with 1.25" dual helical focuser - large focus throw. I have tried all eyepieces from 5mm to 40mm and none of them are suitable for focusing with this prism from 10m to 2000m. .

Pros
  • I hold my fists
Cons
  • Almost everything is there

Corrects left/right and upside down image

comes with a telescope) corrects an upside down image (and puts the eyepiece at a right angle so you don't have to be on the ground to see) while the LR flip. Instead, this device corrects both flips. Good for things that need to look right like moon and ground objects.

  • Like everything else

Good price, fixing screw could be improved

I bought this to extend my 80mm short tube Orion refractor. It is currently mounted on my Meade 10" LX200R as a directional sight. This diagonal allows me to use it as an intermediate viewfinder between my 9x50 and my main OTA. The quality is what I use it for, although I would do it how inside there is a ring clip to hold the eyepiece, only the tip of the locking screw is used instead, the same as most cheap scopes and star diagonals, so if you have good eyepieces be careful: they leave a…

Can't concentrate? Read it.

I bought it to use my reflecting telescope for earth observation. Being new to telescopes, I didn't realize that the length of the prism increases the distance the focuser has to travel. With the prism in place, I couldn't focus even with the focuser fully inserted. The solution is to add a Barlow lens in front of the prism, which increases the focal length. With 2x Barlow magnification it now works exactly as intended. I'm only giving 4 stars because Celestron customer service just told me it…

Works well for me for camera and photography

I have a Celestron CPC 800 XLT. I used to only use single eyepieces, and when viewing the moon, sun (with solar filter) and planets, it annoyed me that the direction switched from left to right. So I liked to view these objects as my eye would see them through binoculars. I noticed that looking at the stars removes a "notch" of the light in the lower left of the image. As others have said, this device is best used for terrestrial observation or for observing the planets, sun and moon. Note that

Pros
  • Sturdy construction
Cons
  • So-so

This is a 45° righting prism for refractors etc.

I am very satisfied with this 45° righting prism for refractors. The whole article is made of metal. The thumbscrew is quite large and easy to tighten or loosen. The end that goes into the focuser has a 13/16" female thread which is 3/4" threads throughout, more than enough for attaching filters etc. The silver end that goes into the focuser, as shown in the advertisement image can be unscrewed from a diagonal of 45°. The image is viewed VERTICALLY, LEFT is LEFT and RIGHT is RIGHT as if looking

Pros
  • Wide range
Cons
  • Negative impression
