Worked with mild steel for me. I suggest using a 23/64 inch bit. The supplied 21/64" size is too small. With a 21/64" bit, you can only screw in the tap halfway before the flutes drop. I was only able to thread the brass fitting 2 turns. Guys, that's probably why the click taps. Nevertheless, I am very satisfied with the quality.

Works very well, very satisfied. Thumbs up!

Worked well, remember to use a T-handle tool to hand tap and back off every 1/4 to 1/2 turn to break up chips. No wrench, you risk breaking the faucet, a mistake many people make. Use lots of cutting or light oil and this tool works great. I'm very pleased as I had to drive and cut a 1/4 inch thick hole in an automotive O2 sensor connector to make a test port to check back pressure in the exhaust system.

  • jobber drill
Cons
  • unreliable

Too brittle to cut hardened steel!

It's 85% carbon and says "Don't press, just grab the metal and cut!" Well when I broke the 10mm machine screw I made a hole that the gear my BMW stopped, I had to try the "easy exit" to get the screw out and then I managed to break the light screw on top of the machine screw. I knew I had to buy something with more carbon and this was my best bet, but it was so brittle it snapped off too - it's just as well the bolt hole was already filled or I would have just ripped it apart, nice car because…
