Breakage is not a problem.

I've had an issue with the thinner plate breaking in my QuadraFire wood stove. This thicker board seems to be the answer. Time will tell, but so far so good.

Pros
  • Compressive Strength at 25% Elongation - 78 psi, Permanent Liner Shrinkage - 3.5% max at 2200F for 24 hour soak, Loss on Ignition (LOI) at 1832F: 4-7
Cons
  • Available in white only

Easy to cut and shape

Used this to cut two overlapping custom baffles for my wood stove - the manufacturer wanted over 200.00 for two baffle pieces. I made them both from this piece with a long precision knife and they work great.

Pros
  • Uses: High temperature board is used for renovation or construction, wood stoves, fireplaces, pizza ovens, kilns, forges, wood stove inner walls, pellet stoves, refractory backing and cast liners, hot hearth . Boiler wall cladding and thermal insulation, heat shields, combustion chambers and fire protection. Typically used for target walls, faceplates and floor insulation.
Cons
  • Expensive

The product is working correctly. My problem is that it has been used. There were rust spots on the front of the plate. Since it was visible, I had to work very hard to remove the rust stains.

Pros
  • Easy to cut: This panel is easy to cut, drill and machine with a knife and hacksaw. This board is not as strong as refractory brick, it bends easily.
Cons
  • Not sure
