Won't Connect to FireWire Devices

I was trying to connect two old external hard drives (bought in the mid 2000's) to my new M1 iMac - an old Lacie and an old Acomdata. Neither one nor the other was recognized. Tested the firewire port on an old iBook G4 and recognized the drives so the particular adapter wasn't working, no fault of the hard drives.

Pros
  • Computer Accessories and Peripherals
Cons
  • Exorbitant Price

That does not work. the best in computers and accessories

It doesn't work at all. I first had to watch a YouTube video showing the device and why it's not working. I hope this helps someone else. Now I've learned the hard way to research a product before buying it.

Pros
  • Firewire adapter
Cons
  • Some difficulties

Unusable computer accessories and peripherals

Bought for an old Lacie backup drive that only has a FireWire port to connect to a new Mac Mini that doesn't have a FireWire port, only USB. Mac says "Turn off device that is using too much power". The backup hard drive was not recognized. Connected to an older MacBook Pro and it's not recognized either. This article is not a converter at all.

Pros
  • Electronics
Cons
  • Some bugs

Cheating is an accident that can happen with this adapter.

I work in IT and I can definitely say that USB and FireWire are incompatible. This adapter is a fire in the wings. There's glue, a few wires, and no real chip to convert between USB and FireWire. If you want to damage your computer, then this product is for you. If not, stay away.

Pros
  • Computers and accessories
Cons
  • High price
