Type of review

Commissioned on January 20, 2019 Yesterday, on February 15, 2019, there was a major leak! And you tell me I can't return it?! That's exactly 26 days of use! For fifty dollars? It's outrageous! I will challenge you on this because in Maine the implied warranty is 4 years on any product sold to Maine consumers. You're not exempt from our laws just because you're a revenant.

Pros
  • Ideal for outdoor activities
Cons
  • Reliability

Very good! I'm not a paid reviewer

VERY nice! I am not a paid reviewer. I researched the teapots carefully before purchasing them. The red looks like a beautiful cherry red. Not orange. The inside is coated with enamel, which reduces the chance of rusting. My daughter had already boiled it and forgot to put the pipe upside down. I was sure it would go bad or the pen holder would melt etc but everything was fine inside and out. great kettle

I'm happy to say that the pictures don't make this tee.

I am pleased to report that the photos do not do this kettle justice. It was better than I had hoped. It is not only beautiful but also well built. The stationary handle doesn't bother me since I'm pouring water straight from the faucet. It boils water quickly, which I also like. I'm not sure why anyone is complaining about the whistling. A feature of the sale was that it had a whistle. If someone complains about this, don't buy a whistling kettle.

Beautiful but dangerous

A very nice kettle but for some reason it bubbles and splashes when you pour hot water and burns your hand when you hold the mug. Other kettles don't. Believe me, this has happened to me and my husband numerous times with this kettle, and it's not just our carelessness. We actually just replaced it with a Chantal kettle with an accordion whistle that doesn't squirt hot water like this one. If you buy this, I hope it doesn't happen to you.

Pros
  • beautiful thing
Cons
  • It's hard to remember but it was

I have had Chantal cookware for over 30 years and had to replace the kettle. The new teapot looks good and is of good quality but is smaller than the original teapot. There is also a hole in the middle of the lid of the kettle spout (so that steam can escape). The hole is larger than the original kettle, and when the water boils, water gushes out like a geyser from the hole in the spout lid. Water quickly spreads throughout the house! I'm disappointed because I love Chantal tableware.

Rust. The kettle is poorly constructed.

This product is defective in design. Where the stain meets the body is a lip. Water sits there and causes rust. You have to stick your finger down the spout and hand dry it. Nobody checked that in Chantal? Customer service told me they only rust when damaged. Although there is a ledge that collects water, I somehow smack something against the inner joint of the spout and create a ledge. Oh well. This product is designed to be cute (which it is) to use on a daily basis. Update: Customer service…

The kettle is excellent for the money

The kettle is excellent for the money. I've always had a le crueset kettle but after 2-3 years it rusts and then the warranty department has to send me another one. It's quite a hassle to "prove" that rust isn't your fault, it's a manufacturing issue. That being said, I bought it for about $50 after reading the reviews on everything. It seems every pan will rust, it's just a matter of time. This kettle pours beautifully, heats water faster and looks beautiful on my stovetop. The handle can get…

Water drips on the front and runs onto the counter

kettle looks great but when pouring water will drip onto the front unless poured very slowly. This results in a mess of hot water on the counter every time we make tea. Also, if you're buying this for an induction cooktop (like we did) note that it works, but since the metal on the base is quite thin it takes longer than I'd like to heat up. I contacted the manufacturer about the drip issue but their only recommendation was to open the pipe cap a couple of times before pouring to get the water…

Serious? - water drips and does not whistle when the water is hot

The kettle has only two functions. Heat the water and whistle when it gets hot. Oh, and don't leak! I can't believe this $50 kettle drips and doesn't whistle. If I didn't want the water to whistle, I could just heat the water in a saucepan (pots don't drip either). I thought the other reviewers who claimed it was leaked and didn't whistle were lying because there were so many positive reviews and the picture in the instructions shows sheet music coming out of the kettle spout - you know…
