I had a salt and pepper shaker that I got as a gift when I got married in the 70's. I've always liked it. After so many years it finally broke and I ordered this one. Very similar and seems quite strong. Very glad I could "replace" one of my favorite pieces from the 70's! Works fine and had no problems. Highly recommended!

We bought this to replace an old version of the same thing that we had just worn out. I was glad that this one has an adjustable pepper grinder (coarse to fine) and the salt shaker has a little sliding lid that you can use to plug the holes so you don't spill the salt around when you don't want it. So it's an upgrade over the older one, although on the surface they look identical. So far very satisfied.

This purchase is to replace an identical shorter version of the machine I used for years until the grinder mechanism failed. I can't be sure that both devices are from the same manufacturer, but they are similar. I hope they are from different companies as the new one has a ceramic grinder instead of a metal grinder like the old one and will hopefully last longer. Although the new one is bigger it's well balanced, everything works well, looks good and I'm glad ground pepper comes out.

I dutifully read the Revain reviews before deciding on two combo salt and pepper grinders. One regretted ordering two but received a gem combo and a second unbeatable nameless. That won't happen to me, I thought, and ordered a pair of big, pretty Gems. Guess who has a gem and a nameless one now? Is it an accident or a plan to reduce understock? We've been using a similar looking pepper mill salt shaker for about 20 years. Although this one looks the same, it works better than the previous one and has three excellent bonus features not advertised by the seller: 1) There is a slide valve on the top of the salt shaker that closes when not in use.
