The interface remained after installation. Tighten with a wrench, I would never hit them if it wasn't necessary. The included wrench is handy and has 19mm and 21mm 6 point hex templates. Love that they are steel, I've had friends with aluminum grommets that pop out easily and disappear quickly. I will let you know if I have trouble changing tires.

Update: I have contacted the seller regarding the issue described below. You never answered. The problem seems to be a small difference in the inside diameter of the nuts. I would not recommend this product. Of the 20 nuts, 5 were poorly screwed on, resulting in 5 ring bolts being damaged. Also, after the first use, the paint on the nuts was peeling off.

Works fine when installed. I installed the plastic bag over the included spline tool as suggested here to avoid scratching them. After about 2 months, although I'm looking at them now, I'm noticing some faded areas at the end, so I'm not sure how they will hold up in the long run. However, they look fine from a distance, but may need to be replaced with more colorful ones.

They're supposed to be forged steel but 7 out of 10 are cracked like they're aluminum. Also, the paint peeled off very easily. I guess the old adage is true, "You get what you pay for!" Spend a few bucks more to avoid the headache I'm dealing with right now. Not only do I have to replace them with real steel, I also have to replace the bolts.

AMAZON NEVER RESPONDED TO MY COMPLAINT ABOUT THIS! Very annoying that not all of the 20 nuts have the correct M12x1.25 thread that I bought! I installed these grommets on my car and found that one of them has an M12x1.5 thread so I have a nut that can't be used on my car! I love how they look on my custom bikes and I wasn't happy I didn't get what I paid for! The quality control at this company is probably not that good! How do I get the right replacement for a wrong mother?!?
