To turn it off, it must be disabled. I can't stress enough that you won't want to buy this coffee maker!

This coffee machine is clearly defective! We are very careful not to spill water or ground coffee. It flows everywhere. The decanter is out of order with the flow tube. So there is a leak. Coffee grounds not only pass through the paper, but also through the reusable filter that comes with the kit. Can be used together or separately. Send back. We still have our old coffee maker. So we'll keep using it until I find a decent retro that actually has it. NOT just for show!

I have to say if you clean this thing and get it to work from the start it makes horrible coffee.
