Works great but difficult to set up

This is a difficult review. On the one hand the product works great and now that it's set up I like it. On the other hand, system setup is complex and many normally simple computer procedures are confusing at best. Since setting up the drive I haven't had any problems at all. It has GB Ethernet and transfer is quick and easy. The product is extremely quiet and looks solid. From this point of view there are no complaints at all. But it's complex to set up, and trying to figure out how to doโ€ฆ

Reliable personal cloud with remote capabilities. It just takes a few tweaks to get it right.

After several years of using multiple external backup drives, I finally made my decision and bought a 4TB WD My Cloud. I couldn't be happier. I was able to consolidate all my files in one place. I like that they are available for each of my computers. Being able to access my files on the go is a big plus, yes this drive has remote capabilities. This disc is easy to install for those who are computer savvy, but I see it will be a bit more difficult for those with computer problems. When Iโ€ฆ

No performance on this device and no WD support

On June 15, 2016, I was delighted to receive my first device. However, it never worked properly (configured) so after I contacted WD support they asked me if I wanted my money back or a replacement. I've been in the computer industry for over 40 years and I know that from time to time failures or defects do occur, so I accepted the offer for a replacement on 06/23/2016, although I was a bit shy about the first unit. work fine for a while. The devil is in the settings

I have to admit that I had serious doubts when buying this NAS due to many bad reviews. I read them and it seemed to me that several problems have a common thread. Changes the IP address2. Loses connection/goes to sleep3. SlowKnowing was my hope :-), which I got involved with. Bought a NAS. First, let me say that the NAS is completely silent, which is good since it's 2 feet away from me! When I read that the IP address changed, I realized it was a DHCP issue.
