Now I just make grooves like this. .

This is the only method I use now. I'm a big fan. I went and bought a custom router and built a slotting station into my master just to accommodate this bit.

Pros
  • Also for use on routers with chucks or adapters
Cons
  • Not sure

Boards need better cleaning before routing pattern

Second one I bought. At first the pattern took a few thousand feet to carve. I have unscrewed a piece with a screw in a wood I tried to recycle, it is necessary to better clean the boards before pattern milling.

Pros
  • 1-1/4" cut length, 2 cutting edges, clockwise rotation
Cons
  • Damaged

Chisel Hickory Like a Pro

I used this router to cut 10 slots 2" deep (correct) in hickory and it cut flawlessly. Although the blade is only 1.25 inches long, it's long enough to hold and cut deeper. I only make 1/8" deep cuts on each pass. Perfectly smooth. Used my Bosch router and homemade chisel clamp. Highly recommended.

Pros
  • For use on Machining Centers, Spotting Machines, CNC Routers
Cons
  • Expensive
