Money well spent! - Hand and power tools

Exceeded my expectations! I wanted to poke a center hole in a rotted fence post and then poke the rest out with a long pry bar. But things didn't go as planned. I used two 12" extensions and modified the Forstner shaft to accommodate the set screws. I took my time and regularly switched the drill on and off, which was self-cleaning. I drilled about 18 inches with no problems. To my surprise, the 4x4 post was solid and the only rotten part was at ground level. Great drill bit, although the edges

No slipping thanks to the smooth round shaft

Decent piece for the price. My problem is with a smooth round bar. Your working with the 2" drill causes a lot of friction/resistance and I could not tighten the chuck enough to keep the drill's shank from slipping (key type chuck). I have drilled a deep well. to 6x6, so I had to add an extension. The slippage was worse, the two set screws just didn't hold the round shank of the bit. Dremel tool and diamond cutting disc. Now the set screws are tight and the slip problem is solved. My advice…

Pros
  • Hands-free operation
Cons
  • Very expensive
