This is my first time cutting bowls and trays so I didn't know what to expect. I use this (and a collet extension) to make several interchangeable bowls and a chip and dip bowl. It takes a little practice to get used to the vibe, but aside from my own flaws, this beat is excellent. It follows the pattern very well and really eats wood. CMT makes a great product here and I just bought a CMT tipped bearing straight bit for outside work.
The bit arrived on time and well packaged, it comes in a hard plastic case. I also bought a CMT collet extension and a 3/4" diameter bowl and tray. I used a 1-1/4" collet extension bowl and tray to make my first milled bowl as dough, and the chisel worked flawlessly.The smooth sides and bottom were left on the bowl which was made from glued plies of maple and red oak.I will be using these CMT cutters to make some Christmas gifts (milled bowls and trays).
The product seems great but the packaging was very surprising. The product comes in a hard plastic sleeve to protect it, but this one came in a mailer box which rattled like crazy. Upon opening, the denture dangled loosely in the box, the body of the product appearing to have been previously opened and resealed rotated 90 degrees from correct orientation. It was obvious that the dentures were simply thrown into the packaging box as separate items along with the product box. Luckily the racketβ¦
