Excellent heater, 3 times cheaper!

Works like a champ! We even kept our 75 gallon tank at 70 degrees on lower settings, mind you our house is a decent temperature but didn't really have a problem maintaining the temperature.

Pros
  • Dope 🔥
Cons
  • Security

Good heating: fish and aquatic animals

Heating works as described. The light comes on when the heater heats the water. The heating switches off at the corresponding temperature. As someone else said, rotating the dial is very difficult. It's pretty much set and let it anyway, so it doesn't matter.

Pros
  • Free for educational purposes
Cons
  • No automatic

Great heater, excellent heat retention.

This heats up my 60 gallon tank quickly and keeps it at the same temperature every day. I set it to 80 degrees and my 2 thermometers (one on each side of the tank) read 81.2 degrees which is fine by me. My house sometimes gets to 76 degrees during the day and cools down to 63 at night, and this heater does a great job of keeping the water at 81 degrees.

Pros
  • Satisfied so far
Cons
  • Good overall but...

Great heater well worth the price

This heater is just great! I've had it for a little over 2 months now and haven't had any problems, the only thing is that it was a bit big for my small tank. Keep that in mind if you have a small tank. I originally had a 1.5 gallon tank but soon switched to a 5 gallon tank to give my Golf more room and get new fish. It works great with the new tank and of course the heater fits better.

Pros
  • Good product for the price
Cons
  • Not bad but...

Good heating at a good price;

Bought to replace another faulty heater; that works great. I've had absolutely no problems with it, I've used it on both 5.5 and 10 gallons with no noise and the light clearly indicates when it's on. Sometimes it warms up by about a degree, but otherwise remains fairly stable. I have recommended it to some of my fishing friends who were looking for a cheaper alternative to the Aqueon Pro.

Pros
  • Sturdy construction
Cons
  • Empty

2 of 2 Arrived broken

The outer packaging of these heaters is pretty good (wrapped in a thick layer of bubble wrap), but the inside of the box, which contains the heater itself, allows the heater to move vertically. I ordered a set of two 50w units and both came with the quartz glass broken. The lower part of both heaters was broken. I knew something was wrong when the packaging made it sound like it was a Lego toy when I picked it up. On the other hand I've ordered two packs of 200w units and they arrived in great…

Pros
  • Absolutely amazing!
Cons
  • Crumpled

IF YOU WANT FISH SOUP

I bought 50w for my 10g. I had to turn off this heater, which is why the red light is not on in the photo. I set it between 72-75 degrees and as you can see on my aquarium thermometer it reads 82 degrees! 82 is the MAX temperature for guppies, but I have other species of fish that live near them that prefer the middle range. One fish has already died. At first I thought "He was older, maybe his time has come." (I've had it for 3 years) Then after checking the temperature and seeing how warm it…

Pros
  • Delivery was very fast
Cons
  • Difficult to say

You must know how to use it. (Duh.)

Bought a 100w 2 pack because I wasn't sure how much heat I really need. My tank is 110 gallons and runs about 4 degrees Fahrenheit warmer than the room due to the pump and the slight heat. I didn't need more than enough heat from the heater because too much power would cause temperature swings and possibly overheating. THAT will kill the fish. All of these heaters (of all brands) are very slow to respond to temperature changes and this is the reason for most of the bad reviews all heaters get…

Superheated water

I have had this heater for a little over three years. I've noticed that the past few months it has randomly left the water too cold. I walked down the stairs this morning and found my largest African cichlid upside down and pale; now work on saving it by disconnecting it from the 75 gallon hot water tank. The content of nitrates and ammonia increases with increasing water temperature, while the oxygen content decreases. Because of this, I may lose our best fish because the heater happens to…
