Description of Stainless Steel COLE & MASON Derwent Salt and Pepper Grinder Set – Includes Gift Box, Gourmet Precision Mechanisms, Premium Sea Salt, and Peppercorns

Modern and Unique Style: The high-quality clear acrylic salt and pepper mills with a stylish stainless-steel finish will look cool on any kitchen table. Adjustable Settings: Up to 6 precise grinding levels that offer fine or coarse granules, while a new durable top design creates a smooth and even turn to grind your salt and pepper. Maintain Freshness: Keep your favorite ground spices fresh and away from moisture and dust with one of the best salt and pepper mill grinders. Easily Refillable: The clear acrylic shaker body highlights the level of your spice and is easy to refill, simply pull up on the salt or pepper grinder top and refill with your choice of coarse sea salt and peppercorns. Lifetime Mechanism : Instead of crushing the salt and pepper, the Professional Gourmet Precision Mechanism strips them down by their individual layers as it grinds, releasing maximum flavor.

Works great, easy to fill! Too bad the dots are old style. :(

i Bought these because Cook's Illustrated has given them their top rating twice in a row several years apart, in a later review they stated that the dots are now stamped into the metal to keep them from wearing out (as of 2012?). I ordered them in 2019 and received the ones that had the dots painted on them so that must mean they were made 7 years ago!I wasn't expecting to get the old style after so many years and was disappointed but I used them anyway and am very happy with how they work…

Pros
  • Easy to Fill: The shaker's clear acrylic body highlights the level of your spices and is easy to fill: simply pull off the top portion of the salt or pepper grinder and fill in your choice of coarse sea salt and pepper

For the price I suspected I would get a sleek metal and glass grinder. It is not. Its body is made of plastic. It should cost around $10 and won't cost a penny more. ATK gave this grinder a very high rating, but it's a sad day that a company gets away with making a pasty "toy," putting it in fancy packaging, and making it look like something more than it really is. If I wanted plastic I would go to my local big store. Shame on the leadership of Cole and Mason who put profit above their name and
