I am a 64 year old female who has never worked on a car other than changing the oil and clutch cable. This is all foreign territory to me. But I was able to test my relays, 5 pin. Found two bad ones. You can also check them when your battery is charged and not in the car. Just connect the clips to the battery and follow the instructions. Very easy.

I think he's doing what he's supposed to do. I tested half a dozen relays and they all turned out to be good. The green light flashed 10 times then turned on 11 times on the 5 pin relay. It would be nice to know if each flash means it's testing a different function, or if it's just flashing to entertain you while it does its thing. I assume it's just a pass/fail tester. A relay puller is a handy item to easily pull out tightly packed relays and miniature fuses.

It is impossible to really test each relay with the VOM without this tester. Think about it. The relay is essentially an interlock switch and this tester will cycle the relay 10 times, counting and evaluating the relay as it cycles with a green pass or fail red light. Much cheaper than a tool trolley and looks pretty much the same. Much easier and faster than bench testing with jumpers and a voltmeter.
