Only the shoes worn by son

The shoes are very durable, fairly waterproof, he's hiked several miles and hasn't hurt his feet. Of course, if they are completely submerged in water, they will get wet. We bought several of these shoes and the only thing I had trouble with was keeping the shape of the shoe. So far, so good!

I'm going to Peru and I've heard it's best to bring hiking shoes. I couldn't find suitable women's hiking shoes, so I opted for children's shoes (cheaper!). Pros
  • REINFORCED TOE CONSTRUCTION: We've reinforced the toe barrier and expanded the outer shell of the toe to protect this key wear point and engineered for sustained, heavy use.
Cons
  • No instructions

The shoes themselves seem good. However, after only 3 months of ownership (ie only occasional use) on any shoe, the laces on any shoe will wear out at the ends and the lace sleeve will separate from the inner cord. When removed, they cannot fit through the holes because the outer shell of the laces is left exposed and pushes back, only pulling the inner cord. Yes, it only costs about $8 to replace the laces, but considering this is a KIDS shoe (which needs to be durable) that cost JUST $60, the

Pros
  • USEFUL FEATURES: Durable steel eyelets for the top lacing and our reinforced and proven main webbing.
