Columbia Watch Cap: Stylish and Warm Winter Headwear Review

Stylish watch cap with nice logo. I like the olive green color. It has some hairs in it that you can see. [update] Not wool, but acrylic and nylon. It's just a bit like wool.

Fits well and sewn up well, but due to the material the bald head itched within minutes. Perfect for those with hair although this was a fairly expensive hat which I felt could have been sold for a lower price given the quality and material used.

Looks like a good hat. It looks nice and feels soft. But it's not big enough to cover my ears. And I bought it knowingly because the item was described as "machine washable". However, the label inside says "hand wash in cold water". At some point I'll probably wash it in the machine anyway and hope for the best. A disappointing product considering I've liked this brand in the past.

A good hat (or three) is essential in the winter where I live in Minnesota. While this hat looks good and is well made, it is quite thin and not particularly warm. If you live in a more temperate climate where you don't want your head to overheat, this might be fine. If you need something warmer my go-to hat for everyday is the Carhartt Wetzel Watch Hat for men which I highly recommend.

I usually like Columbia winter clothes. I've had it for 15 years now and prefer similar brands. This is the first disappointment I've experienced from them (and I still have several of their knit hats). The hat is too small for my "average" head so wearing it for more than ten minutes at a time gives me a headache. Give it a try, I might have gotten one out of a thousand bad ones. but don't repeat my mistake. If it doesn't fit, keep the packaging so you can return it.

I love these caps. I take pride in promoting them, so I don't mind having the brand name embroidered permanently. I bought this to replace a 3 year old version that was starting to curl. Strange to say, but it's actually too big. I have a HUGE head and have never had a complaint about the hat being too big. Too high is very strange. I wear a size 8 hat. This cap is easy to put on without leaving a trace of ridges on the forehead or feeling that it is so loose that it might fall down. It's big enough to cover my ears and if needed not only cover my ears but also cover part of my neck over the collar of my jacket. It offered tolerable warmth when wet, and while it took some time to dry (there wasn't enough of it on the table overnight, so I wore it until it dried), it didn't change shape or size.
