Exchange is not the right word.

I was just asking Columbia customer service if there is a fleece lining that can be zipped into a moderately cold weather jacket. They are not here. I was hoping it would be like North Face's jackets, which can handle anything from the low 60's to freezing temps or even freezing depending on which liner you zip up. But that's not the case. There are no other linings other than those that come with the jacket itself. I was very disappointed that this is strictly a ski jacket or windbreaker…

Great coat! for clothes

I bought it for my ten year old son. He's 5'5 and about 115 pounds and I ordered a medium. He likes his jackets oversized and loose enough to wear hoodies and thermals that allow room for movement and activity while he plays outside (we live in Michigan). was supposed to have a longer torso because it wasn't that bad and there are velcro straps on his wrists to pull them tight enough not to cover his arms. He tried it himself this winter, and although he likes it, he even complained that it…

Main zip doesn't work - Active & Performance

I had one of these jackets for about 4 years and it was fantastic. Bought as a replacement and immediately disappointed. The cuts/sizes are all oversized so the same size as before is huge all over. Reducing to the next size does not fit in the hands. I prefer function to form anyway, so I decided to bite the bullet at Barney the Talking Dinosaur and bought the jacket. The main zipper broke on the first day. and on the second day. and the third day. I didn't even play sports, I just ran…

Nicely tailored two piece jacket, water repellent

This is a nicely tailored well fitting jacket with a separate 'puffy' jacket with zip fastening. The outer jacket is made of a very comfortable material - similar to ripstop fabric, water-repellent. The hood zips up and is long enough to cover your face in snowy weather and there is a nice velcro closure at the back to zip it back up if needed. The sleeve length is perfect for my husband and covers the gloves. The length of the jacket is very good, just covers the bottom. I would rate it 5…

Good jacket on insulated

I have a Columbia Alpine Action jacket that I really like. I'm a big fan of the Omni-Heat insulation and this is just a great winter coat. I also have an Omni-Heat Crested Butte II jacket that I wear under a Gore-Tex shell when it gets really wet and cold. Anyway, my teenage son needed a winter coat and wanted a coat without the bulky insulation, so I started looking into Columbia's various Omni-Heat offerings. I was thinking of buying him an Alpine Action coat but then I saw that the…

Buy at least one size smaller than you think

This Mens Whirlbird IV Interchange model runs large. Looks like it's about 2 sizes too big. I have another Columbia spare jacket and this XL they sent me was more like a 2XL or even a 3XL. I can practically wear my old jacket underneath. I can't say too much about the feeling of warmth as any breeze goes straight through the jacket and inflates it halfway. The inner lining looks like it offers more insulation as it resembles a small down jacket, but it's too thin to hold much heat. The…

Good budget ski jacket - oversized; consider a size smaller

I have ordered this jacket and tried on Helly Hansen, North Face, REI and Mountain Hardware. It was the cheapest coat on the market and the features (vents, warmth of the zip lining, quality stitching) are really good for the price. The only jacket that was significantly better suited for mountaineering was the Mountain Hardware model, which had an MSRP of more than double the Columbia 3-in-1 jacket. The neckline is wider than expected. I'm 6ft 1in 215cm and this jacket is too big for me. ***…
