Comet great quality but very overpriced

This made NO difference on my Uniden Bearcat BCD-996P2 so it was returned. I bought a Tram 1089 magnetic scanner antenna and put it inside on a tin can on the windowsill and wow, great reception and a lot less money. Avoid this unless used on a handheld scanner as it works better than a rubber ducky.

  • Absolutely amazing!

Huge improvement: radio antennas

Using an old desktop scanner with a center-loaded antenna. I recently moved about an hour away from the big city I live in. At the moment I'm mainly using it to get weather information (I'll have to reprogram at some point), but that didn't even happen on a cloudy day. I installed this antenna and it picks up the NOAA signal perfectly. It will be interesting to see what else I can get. This time I feel like I haven't been ripped off!

No difference in accessories and consumables

I bought a new Uniden Home Patrol II. I've read other reviews promoting these alternative antennas and maybe it has more to do with where you live. I connect the same stations around me with a standard antenna and this antenna. I'm tired of cheating If you don't install a roof antenna, it doesn't matter. There will be no more such purchases for me!

  • Easy to read control panel

The BNC connector will NOT snap into place.

This antenna received three stars because it does not rotate far enough for the pins to snap into the slot locking position. Be careful because I used a bit more force when twisting because I didn't want it to keep popping out. The Uniden BCD346HP scanner was damaged (the internal antenna connection broke trying to attach it). I had to send the scanner to Uniden for repair. They also did NOT guarantee it. I had to pay to have my scanner returned. Beware!

Another great Comet antenna!

Comet antennas may seem expensive at first, but I've bought several and have always been very happy with my choice. The design and materials used by Comet are exceptional. When lowered, the antenna mast fits the width of my SDS200 (7 inches), so it fits perfectly in the small carrying case. The whip antenna extends up to 38 inches, and nice graphics on the antenna show which sections need to be extended when 440MHz tuning is required. up to 80MHz. cool The extended antenna isn't wobbly either…

Works well with Uniden BCD996XT

Although the antenna is a bit pricey, the build quality is better than the antenna that came with my radio and $12-15 equivalents available online. I bought this to replace the antenna that came with my Uniden BCD996XT after one of the internal channels failed. Works well as an indoor broadband antenna. With this antenna fully extended I'm successfully listening to VHF, UHF and 800MHz. I haven't investigated whether the antenna performs significantly better at specific frequencies when…

The workmanship is very good, works as expected, very satisfied.

Before using this antenna I used a 24 inch telescopic antenna and when I replaced the Comet Ultra Wideband telescopic antenna I noticed an improvement in signal strength when used with my wideband receiver. I didn't expect miracles, just an improvement in the number of stations received and an increase in signal strength. This antenna did just that. Let's face it, if you wanted a better situation, you would use an outdoor antenna at roof level. So I'm happy with how it works. I measured this…

BCD436HP, Updates (2) on dual links

This antenna improved my reception on multiple frequencies. I'm not sure about the markings on it that supposedly tell you how long it draws, but due to its extreme length, weird twin pivot, and questionable fixation in the mount on my BCD436HP, it's very easy to attach the permanent mount to the scanner to damage. At full extension, when both joints are straight, it wobbles, especially the first joint closest to the scanner, and is very difficult to keep straight. Probably best for a desktop…
