Poor build quality and components. Any missing components?

As others have said, I also had an issue with one of the screws on the input connector. One of the bolts was stuck and wouldn't turn all the way in. I literally had to unsolder the entire screw terminal and replace it with my own. While at it I fixed a whole bunch of unfinished solder joints that looked like they were done by a complete amateur. I also noticed that all other modules like this one have three 10uF 400V caps (green) on the top of the board. . I have two of these but there is room…

Pros
  • Modular character: non-isolated boost module.
Cons
  • Negative impression

Great power supply but bad screw connections

PSU good, well thought out, works as promised. I get voltages and currents as specified. My only complaint is that the input and output connectors are too flimsy, the screws either stick or don't adjust the wire clamp resulting in poor contacts.

Pros
  • Suitable for charging capacitors, hunting, rodents, test voltage, glow power supply.
Cons
  • unreliable

This power supply works very well. I used it to test Nix displays and 250 volt neon lights from Russia. These power supplies provide good current so they can power multiple high voltage devices when needed. I ordered a second one to use one for a project and the other for a high voltage desktop power supply. but feeds a Russian 250 V neon tube without any problems.

Pros
  • high voltage boost module, ultra wide voltage range, output voltage adjustment.
Cons
  • Nothing here

Minimum input voltage 10V (not 8V)

Inaccurate voltage rating. The 10V listed by default is the minimum input (I'd recommend at least 12), so a 9V battery won't help. Otherwise it works as stated. Addendum: Very sensitive to noise. A well-tuned boost converter will drive it with no problem, but noisier power supplies, including laptop power supplies, are useless. When there are noise issues, it appears to be an instantaneous turn on (perhaps for half a second) followed by an instantaneous turn off that can be repeated.

Pros
  • Modular design: Non-isolated boost module.
Cons
  • Some disadvantages

High DC voltage! Light up, but be careful!

Surprisingly small power supply! Charges capacitors to metal level, beware! After turning off the power, it takes some time for the capacitors to discharge, so be careful! I'm currently experimenting with this as an alternative high-voltage power supply for a tube amp! So far it has been very reliable. Did some load testing: installed a bunch of power resistors, cranked the voltage up and was able to source 35+ mA at 359V with a 20V DC supply for over 1/2 hour with no zero. Questions. The…
