Description of ๐ŸŒก๏ธ Comidox MAX31865 PT100/PT1000 RTD Temperature Thermocouple Sensor Amplifier Board Temperature Detector Module for Arduino - (1 Unit)

To get that precision and accuracy out of your PT100 RTD,you must use an amplifier that is designed to read the low resistance. This amplifier that can automatically adjust and compensate for the resistance of the connecting wires. It is really a great RTD sensor Amplifier. Ours RTD Sensor Amplifier with the MAX31865 breakout for use with any 2, 3 or 4 wire PT100 RTD!. The MAX31865 handles all of your RTD needs, and can even compensate 3 or 4 wire RTDs for better accuracy. Connect to it with any microcontroller over SPI and read out the resistance ratio from the internal ADC. We even made the breakout 5V compliant, with a 3.3V regulator and level shifting, so you can use it with any Arduino or microcontroller. Each order comes with one assembled RTD amplifier breakout board. Also comes with two 2-pin terminal blocks (for connecting to the RTD sensor) and pin header (to plug into any breadboard or perfboard). A required PT100 RTD is not included!.

Accurate, simple and reliable.

After trying several temperature sensors for Arduino, this one is the most accurate and reproducible. Others are too dependent on the voltage. Even with a dedicated voltage regulator, others can vary within 10 degrees Celsius. This is reliable independent of other I/O. This solution is more expensive, but it's worth it.

Pros
  • Test, measure and verify
Cons
  • Not the best

The product description says this board will work with a PT100 or PT1000 RTD. It is not true! According to the MAX31865 datasheet, "a reference resistor four times the resistance of the RTD is optimal for a platinum RTD. So the PT100 uses a 400 ohm reference resistor and the PT1000 uses a kohm reference resistor.โ€ This board uses a 430 ohm reference resistor. Reference resistance and is therefore intended for use with a PT100 resistance sensor. If you use this with a PT1000 you should buyโ€ฆ

Pros
  • Our MAX31865 tapped RTD sensor amplifier for use with any 2, 3 or 4 wire PT100 RTD!
Cons
  • Not as thick as other picks

The boards work fine, though.

After soldering the cap. I carefully tested the 3 pads to ensure they would fit my 3 wire PT100 RTD. I was happy to see that they were already set up and that the solder was spilled on all the pads, not just the bridged pads. I installed the RTD connectors and connected the RTD wires. These screw connections are not of high quality. I had to open the hole slightly to allow the wire to go all the way through. I tested both and got -403 degrees Fahrenheit. Pretty sure the room wasn't somewhereโ€ฆ

Pros
  • Each order includes an assembled RTD amplifier breakout board. Also comes with two 2-pin terminal blocks (to connect to an RTD sensor) and one terminal block (to connect to any breadboard). The required PT100 resistance thermometer is not included in the scope of delivery!
Cons
  • Out of fashion
