I bought this speaker mic to replace a similarly priced competitor mic that was originally defective. This speaker mic appears to be well built and although I've only had it recently it has been reliable and I get excellent signal reports when I use it. I am currently using it with a cheap Chinese transceiver and it works great.

The audio reception is good, I'm getting good reports on the audio quality. The cable is rubberized and is comfortably soft and pliable, rather than stretchy like many modern cables. There is a noticeable "pop" when connected to the Baofeng UV-5RTP, but that's a design flaw of the cheap Baofeng, which translates into a decent speaker, and not a downside of this product. Good value for money.

Commercial quality hand held microphone/speaker. Works well with my Baofeng UV5R HT ham radio. Speaker sound is good. Mike's transmission volume has dropped slightly, which is not unusual. I haven't found a way to increase the mic volume on the HT, so I'm talking louder. If a newer model; Baofeng could switch to broadband FM, maybe that would help. After buying two Baofeng mics with poor transmission and build quality, this mic works great. Not only do I get good off-air feedback that I sound good, but the build quality is much better than Baofeng. This microphone has a silicone seal between the two body parts, the electret element and speaker are securely fixed. I think it will be pretty waterproof. Good upgrade for my UV5RA. I have Yaesu permanently installed in my truck, but I use the UV5RA as a mobile/handheld device. If I connect it to an external antenna, I really need an external microphone to use it. This works really well and the clip on the back rotates to attach almost anywhere. The only problem is that there is no possibility to attach a microphone in the car. I have 2 BaoFeng UV-5R HT (handhelds) and a new BaoFeng UV-82HP and I'm having trouble getting Kenwood mics to work once connected. This was my last attempt and when I connected this new one to each of the radios it worked flawlessly. I was able to transmit and receive with no issues so it's a good mic. I bought two of these Commountain Portable Speaker Microphones to use with two of the new Baofeng BF-F8HP handheld radios. My son bought two Baofeng 5W radios that came with portable speaker microphones (NOT Commountain) and other extra accessories, but they were very quiet and with a lot of noise. two microphone speakers from Commotain that I just received. And when I came back I was amazed at how well the Commountain speaker mics worked and would I let him keep them because they worked GREAT!
