It really helps make the knife very sharp.

Use this material on a lightly oiled leather pad before adding the abrasive paste. This honing paste makes the knife very sharp quickly, a good tool for knife sharpening.

Pros
  • Enjoy
Cons
  • Slightly torn

I used and edited it in a YouTube video!

Package arrived on time. I saw this work in a YouTube video showing a man using this brand/product to sharpen a Mora knife. I just received this and my Mohr knife about 40 minutes ago. I'm confident that this, along with a homemade leather paddle sling, will help sharpen my knife blades before they need the tedious sharpening process.

Pros
  • Perfect for outdoor activities
Cons
  • Vulgarity

It's ok with regular slings but probably much better with Tormek

I have some leather slings fitted to a drill and also a leather sling to a converted 1 inch belt sander. This paste works, but not as well as other formulations I already have. IMO this paste is not really intended for low speed dressing as it is difficult to get a truly polished blade surface. Not bad, but once I use it I'll go back to other formulations I have. This paste is most likely designed for optimal use with the Tormek system.

Pros
  • That's great
Cons
  • No automatic

8k perfect for sharpener

Surprised how well this works and how cheap it is. It is difficult to find a composition with a large grain size. Most mixes are 600 grit. Like the green bars everyone admires, they're only around 600 grit. Which is terrible for tools. This is of course normal with a surveyor or similar. But definitely not for the blade of a plane or chisel. They sharpen your tools to 8k-10k. Then a 600 grit sling? This actually dampens your instruments to less than 1k. Better not to cut at all. Or use bare…

Was used to sharpen/buff the head of a Norelco electric razor. Blades sixty seconds and two years old worked almost like new. A new head is now a whopping $60, cheap $12 Chinese imitations work pretty well for the first week and they start plucking rather than undercutting. This tube of honing paste is a lifetime supply for most guys. Using a cotton swab, lift a small dab from the bottom of each blade set to push up so it lies over the blades, shave for 1 minute, rinse thoroughly and enjoy the…

Great product for hand tools

Exactly what I was looking for. I'm a knife collector and use whatever I buy. I use this and a heavy piece of canvas to sand down all edges to factory or better quality before going back to the wall. I recently bought a Spyderco Byrd from Amazon and as anyone who owns one knows the Spydercos are some of the most accurate factory models you can find on the market. I've been using this knife as my EDC for a couple of months now and moving on to the next prize. The edge wasn't in bad shape, but…

Amazing for a super sharp, super polished knife blade

I bought this to use with the Japanese Waterstone 400/1000; for sharpening hunting and pocket knives. I was very happy with the results I got. I only use it to stretch a small amount over a sturdy piece of leather (about 6" x 6"). This material transforms a completely reprofiled blade into a beautiful finish and fearsome sharpness in just 10 minutes. It is said to be 6000 grit and gives sharpness to the blade. I still haven't figured out how to get terrible sharpness and with this compound it's

A little goes a long way and it worked better than I expected.

This really exceeded my expectations. I use it in a leather belt on a tabletop. I liked it so much I would have sharpened or polished almost any blade in the house. If it starts to stick together and gets dirty, just scrape it off, add some more and smooth it down. It seemed the more I used it the better it worked. Will definitely buy again and will probably buy a few as gifts for my friends and family who sharpen knives. I've noticed that the price fluctuates by about a dollar up or down from…
