Graphite pencils are not as famous as Faber-Castell, Derwent or some other brands. with Hi-Uni are my favorites for smoothness. They don't hold the point as well as the Mono 100, but the smoothness makes up for it.

These are the best drawing pencils. I haven't met any other brand that compares to it. The sticks feel smooth, almost creamy. I first encountered graphite pencils in the Conté drawing set and fell in love with them; In fact, I only bought the painting set because of the pencil. I could never find pencils by myself so when I found a whole set of pencils I had to take them.

I liked that at first glance they look very smooth and are of very high quality. HOWEVER I only used them today and the quality of the pencil is terrible. I used up the pre-sharpened tip of a 6B pencil and as soon as I started sharpening with a Staedler sharpener, which is my best sharpener for any type of pencil, the pencil started splitting in half and the tips broke again and again. This makes the material very difficult to use when I break the tip about half an inch in my pencil. I hate…

I don't have this full set but I have two of these pencils. There is a distinct difference between them and all my other graphites. I plan on buying this set when I have a few extra bucks. I shared these pencils with my art professor and some other art students and they too loved these graphite pencils and their softness!
