I bought this unit to connect an old DVD player (which didn't have an HDMI output) to a much newer HDTV (which didn't have a component input). It was a simple plug and play installation. Would recommend to anyone trying to save a few bucks (without buying a new DVD player) and want to recycle a working DVD player (to avoid disposing of a potentially toxic device).

I am currently using this with my Xbox 360. I have an older model without an HDMI port. After two rebuilds of RRoD by Microsoft, it seems to be stable now.
