Into the bin

Takes temperature very slowly. Read 275 degrees Fahrenheit in a stainless steel pan that was at 400 degrees Fahrenheit. I also bought an Acurite grill surface thermometer for half the price which I am happy with. Acurite reacts faster to temperature changes and measures the temperature fairly accurately. I'm used to feeling the temperature of my stainless steel pans. Cooper-Atkins ended up in a trash can. Maybe the thermometer was broken, maybe you have better luck.

Pros
  • Easy-to-read control panel
Cons
  • New competitors have emerged

Durable item best in thermometers and timers

Durable thermometer, fast delivery. However, this was not what my application required. I needed a tool that would work at lower rates. I tried measuring the oil level in a flat-walled tank using the temperature difference between filled and empty portions. luck next time. I'll save that for the future.

Pros
  • Looks good
Cons
  • Can't remember

The sensor is not accurate best in meat

The sensor is off by about 100 degrees. At the low end it's too high. Look at their photos, while the device is in my hand it should read about 100 degrees. The sensor also indicates that the pan is colder than it actually is. For example, the pressure gauge reads 300 degrees, while the frying pan is actually over 400. I would not buy this brand again.

Pros
  • Pretty packaging

Out of service in a year

Didn't even last a year. Thought I'd add this negative review before it goes in the trash. It was used on the Toastmaster Pro Series 24-inch Electric Grill. Now it reads 300°F when cold. It's hard to see how dirt got in as it's a solid aluminum base with a glass top covered with a retaining ring. The circlip has no holes so I can't open it with a circlip tool.

Pros
  • New to my collection
Cons
  • No form required

Inaccurate: Kitchen Utensils and Appliances

I have had several surface thermometers over the years. I usually skim 2 a year as they get so dark I can't read them, but they remain accurate. This thing was 75 degrees below elevation when it was first used. I suspected something was wrong as I know my grill well. I've pulled past years and accepted too. So the old and IR coincided, and this one was 75 degrees higher. I left it on and I was over 100 degrees before I was done. Avoid this product.

Pros
  • Nice
Cons
  • Obsolete
