Description of 🔧 CPS BlackMax BTLDTW Adjustable E-Torque Wrench

WHY BLACKMAX: Ideal for HVAC mini-split installations or where OEM-specified torque settings are critical, the BlackMax digital torque wrench exceeds the capabilities of mechanical-only torque wrenches by offering a variety of user-friendly features in a lightweight, durable and ergonomic housing. PRESETS: The BTLDTW stores 5 factory and 5 user-defined presets, and is able to simultaneously display stored vs. actual torque values. READABILITY: Large display numbers prevent misreading torque data, a common problem when using wrenches without digital displays. CUSTOMIZABLE: View “Peak” and “Track” torque data with audible (tone), visual (LED) and tactile (vibration) “torque alerts” to prevent over-tightening by providing advance warning when approaching or exceeding predefined torque settings. ABOUT US: CPS Products is a business built by technicians, for technicians. We design Tools for the Professional Service Technician. With the world’s most comprehensive range of Leak Detection technologies, Smart Diagnostic tools, and proven Maintenance Solutions, CPS Products has been The Workingman’s Choice since 1989.

turning my nuts! suitable for hand tools

everything seems neat, the wrench and the adjuster are a little sloppy but there were no problems with it. The beeper may be louder and harder to hear when working outside in an urban area.

Pros
  • wrench
Cons
  • communication with the seller

lasted less than a year

I've had it less than a year and used it at a job site where we were installing some fan coils and condensers and it kept flickering flares. I contacted Blackmax and they told me that the 1 year warranty is void because I bought it from Amazon.

Pros
  • Tools and Housewares
Cons
  • Hard to tell

100% Waste Key

Purchased for our Alaska salon. I used it literally 1 time then it didn't turn on. Since it was bought in the fall, the feedback for the next salon season is already over. Pretty expensive disposable tool.

Pros
  • WHY BLACKMAX: Perfect for mini split HVAC units or when OEM specified torque ratings are critical. The BlackMax Digital Torque Wrench surpasses only mechanical torque wrenches and offers many useful features in a lightweight, durable and ergonomic body
Cons

The right tool for mini split rigs

Now I know why these mini connectors are prone to flare leaks. This is because installers do not use these torque wrenches. If you tighten and increase the torque, the torque value will be halved or lower. I was confused at first, but I immediately realized that this was a clear sign that my flash was not making a good connection. It "felt" like a solid good connection in flare adjustment to be honest, but I'd never know of my bad flare without seeing the numbers myself... the key is very good…

Pros
  • ADJUSTABLE: View "peak" and "track" torque data with audible (tone), visual (LED), and tactile (vibration) "torque alerts" to detect over-tightening Prevent advance warning when approaching or exceeding predefined torque settings
Cons
  • Out of fashion

You need an HVAC torque wrench so buy this, it has accurate presets

It's hard to read a thermometer. Very difficult when you are in a crazy position like some units do. It does buzz and vibrate when you hit the right torque though, which is actually better than having to read the actual sensor. One thing I don't like at all, but maybe a necessary evil, is the wrench has a tiny set screw on the side of the jaw, which can be very annoying because it's so small that a tiny screwdriver is required, and because it's tends to move on your own. Maybe everyone is like…

Pros
  • PRESETS: BTLDTW stores 5 factory and 5 user presets and can display stored and actual torque values at the same time
Cons
  • Ugly packaging
