Save money! The letters where it's hard to see had to be drawn 3-4 times with colored pencils before anything even showed on the chalk. It was hard to tear the paper from the pen. Just a bad gift for children. Open at Christmas and put back in the box. We only use colored pencils for ourselves.

My 5 year old son was so happy to get it for Christmas. Cuts great and is safe to use even for my 3 year old. I want each green tile to have a home apart from the main area where you place the cut pieces. I also don't like the tool to remove the paper from the pencil. A large indented line is drawn on each chalk. Otherwise it's a great fun toy.

Not so easy to use. I bought it along with a marker maker for my little friend for Christmas. Making a marker is easy and a lot of fun. Carver is difficult to get working properly and results are inconsistent. It's also on the flimsy end of production and was more frustrating to play with than anything else. Disappointing.

The kids thought that since he took the batteries he would move on or cut on his own. Not quite. He hums and cuts out letters. You just have to do it manually. Make sure you place the letters in the holders before you begin. We spent 10 minutes trying to find the letters. It was a fun toy for them for about 10 minutes. As a craftsman, I think I can use it in the future.

Three solutions to common complaints about bad reviews: 1) Place the crayon in the fridge and let it cool before cutting. This makes the threads detailed and crisp, and makes shavings easier to remove (they don't cling to fines like they do at room temperature). Giant pegs are harder to break and the tiles used to cut them are larger 3) Order larger letters/characters - these are used to cut giant pegs - see above.
