I bought a lamp from Ikea and of course nothing fits with it except Ikea lampshades. So to attach a lampshade bought elsewhere I needed this clip to attach it to the lamp. It works to keep the lampshade on the lamp, but it's easy to move and remove. The lampshade does not fall off but moves towards the lamp at the slightest impact, so I am constantly correcting it for OCD. This worked well, the problem was that my lampshade is small so the large gap between the knob and the lamp clip in this design makes the whole thing sit too high. I have other small canopies with the same clamping concept built in that do a good job and don't have this gap, so I'm guessing this one is only for larger canopies that need a bit more height. I love this harp! I bought new lamps and wanted to use my existing lampshade which required a harp. Unfortunately, the lamps did not have a holder for it. Surprisingly, such an alternative existed! I bought 3 of these and got new tips. I did not use the brass they came with but required bronze to match the lamps.
