Excellent Light Tone

Overall Excellent Light Tone! I've used it on both aluminum foil and cardboard. I was worried the cardboard would tear since the layer of clay was about 1/8 inch thick, but it dried perfectly. With a little fuss and water it can be smoothed out fairly well, I found dampening a piece of fabric and wiping it down did the trick. It also sands down very easily with fine sandpaper and has a relatively good finish. It will dry out your hands, but that's no big deal.

This is my favorite air dry clay for mosaic work!

I have tried many brands of air dry clay and this is my favorite. It's fun to work with and you don't need to wear gloves. It should dry well and can then be prepared for the mosaic by applying 2 coats of gesso and then 1 coat of a clear medium. Let each layer dry. Then it can be painted and varnished. I use it in outdoor mosaics and it holds up well. There are so many cool shapes these days that you can do almost anything with them! I use it on a small scale, but flowers etc.

A product I keep coming back to

Let me just say - I LOVE this. My mom has been using this stuff in her various art projects for years so I grew up with it. When I had to make figures for our play The Hunchback of Notre Dame, I immediately thought of this product. It is very easy to use: easy to shape, easy to dry, easy to color. It can even be sanded if the texture doesn't meet your needs after drying. I will say that this material is not ideal for something that can be thrown/fall frequently - I used it on a separate project

This tone is amazing

I have tried 3 different brands and this tone works amazing. The dragon and baby dragon in the pictures are made from this clay. Another brand of bricks and stones that I like too. This brand is expensive but it has great detail, works great in form and is so easy to work with. It's very smooth and silky. After reading the reviews I was skeptical due to the paper and some paper fiber claims, but I didn't have that experience. It's not too sticky and easy to shape with tools. I was able to…

Disappointed

After trying this just once, I found that I couldn't get very good results with the Prima silicone molds. The clay left wrinkle marks on the surface even after conditioning. Care must also be taken with smaller items as the clay will shrink as it dries and the bottom may not stay flat when it dries (at least in my case). If you don't mind wrinkles, this could add some texture to your piece (I made flowers, so no, I didn't mean to do that), or you could apply small microbeads to "blemishes" etc.

Pros
  • Everything is fine!

Creative Paperclay for modeling, sculpting and more LOVE IT!

Hello, I chose this tone. Soft, easy to use, if you repack between uses it won't dry out. I use IOD Prima for shapes and love the quality of this paper tone. I intentionally left a small amount in a double pocket, zipped in the larger pocket to see if it dries or not, just make sure you bleed all the air out of the zipped pocket. worked for me I bought two of these along with other paper clay crafts to try with my new molds. I really like these and will be getting them again, it's so easy to…
