Win Pencils for Me

My first set of oil pencils. For comparison I have Eberhard Faber Ebony and Conte a Paris Carbone and Pierre Noir. Not a fan of soft pastel rulers or prickly charcoal. Exactly my taste and need. Carbon would be my favorite, but wood comes in different densities. The ebony is great, but the lead sometimes leaves something to be desired. Works well

Good basic pens. you have a job I'm taking Stan Winston's online classes and just need pens for practice. I don't want to pay a lot of money for a really good crayon and they work great while I'm studying. I draw but I don't draw. And I fully understand that this is a strange combination. Haha

Pros
  • Great construction
Cons
  • Crumpled packaging

The best pens I have ever had and I have all the colored pencils.

I love these pens. I bought 4 packs to get a dark sepia brown. They wanted $12 just for the pencil plus shipping so I bought the whole bundle instead. They're smooth and nice and soft, but oil-based. White Oil works wonders where I have not been able to find others that work as well.

Pros
  • This is amazing
Cons
  • Some bugs

Lyra Rembrandt makes a collection of 12 'Art Specials', most of which are charcoal-crayon type pencils, but one of the pencils in this set, labeled 'Red chalk 300', is an oil pencil that is very similar. (It's also my favorite of the set!) That being said, I'd say the Derwent crayons are the most similar, but the…
